Job is an ancient account of a man who through no immediate fault of his own suffered the loss everything. Everything. His livestock stolen or destroyed, his children killed as well, Job was left with nothing save his own life. And it is what Job does in response to all of this tragedy that makes a child of God perk up and take notice. Though Job lost everything, all of his livestock and all of his precious family, He replied as a man who understood the sovereignty of Almighty God.
Let us be thankful for God’s gift of Gospel repentance. He alone has opened our eyes to our darkness, sin and shame. He alone has changed our minds concerning Christ, causing each of us to look to Christ alone for all righteousness. It is the Lord alone that has, in the words of Paul, “given us understanding.” And it is through eyes made new by Gospel repentance that we endeavor to be kind and gentle toward one another as we, ever sorrowful for our sin, trust Christ alone to go our way until the brightness and glory of His coming.
Redeemed, called personally, eternally kept by the power of God: We are God’s purchased possession, loved of the Lord so much that He sent Christ to fulfill all righteousness for us by His death on the cross. We are exhorted to testify to the truth of the Gospel of God’s free and Sovereign Grace. We have a commission to carry forth as Christians, to share Christ’s finished work in the proclamation of the Gospel. Far and wide, we must spread the Gospel. Let it be our labor of love!
John 16:13-15 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is…
Our Lord Christ shut the mouth of the accuser! No weapon formed against us shall prosper! Let us rejoice that our righteousness is of Christ! Praise His Name alone!
When the trials of faith come our way, take comfort in knowing God is in complete control. He will use these trials to deepen our faith in Christ and His finished Work. God calls on His people to ask for wisdom, to seek wisdom from above. We can and should cry out to the Father of Lights to show us His glory in the face of Jesus Christ. And, beholding the face of Christ, we find assurance and comfort through trials that God’s will to save us is forever settled in heaven.
Christians rejoice, knowing salvation is absolutely secure in Christ. God, who has called us in love, keeps us faithfully in, by, and through the merits of the finished work of Christ Jesus. Through Christ’s obedience unto death, God’s people have complete confidence, joy unspeakable and full of glory, all because of Christ, who has put away sin and fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law for His elect people.
